Does StopAd Slow Down a Computer?
StopAd and computer performance
The StopAd program does not influence your Windows load time. It launches along with the computer startup and works on the background. The program cannot slow down your browser’s work speed, because it is not a browser extension. In fact, StopAd has the potential to increase the page load time by disabling ads and trackers—less data equals a faster load. Also, we use different ad blocking techniques. Thus, StopAd blocks ads before they are loaded into the browser speeding up and optimizing the work of your browser.
However, if you have faced such a problem, there might be various reasons for it including hardware, software issues, viruses or some problems on the side of internet provider. To prevent some of these common causes of device slow-down, it is recommended to have proper antivirus protection to avoid getting infected with malware, adware, and viruses. StopAd won’t protect your PC/Mac from malicious applications, however, it does block access to potentially harmful websites and ads.
How to Reduce Consuming Your Computer’s Resources?
StopAd must run on every tab to work, so the more tabs you have open means the more memory used by the program. If you need to have lots of tabs open, consider suspending unused tabs so that they don't take up resources unnecessarily.
Cut Down on Your Web Browser’s Extensions
We all have plugins and extensions installed on our internet browser, even without some of us realizing it. Sure, they improve a webpage’s readability and functionality, and block pesky pop-ups, but at what cost? Remember that each active plugin uses up CPU and RAM so your PC ends up suffering a dip in performance.
If your machine has been slowing down every time you surf the web, it may be time to uninstall the browser plugins you don’t really need. If you don’t feel like saying goodbye to your favorite weather plugin just yet, try disabling it instead. The goal here is to keep as many unnecessary plugins from using up your computer’s resources as you can.
Note! It is not recommended to use StopAd along with other ad blockers.
Get Rid of Excess Cache
Your computer stores cache to speed up browsing. Having too much cache, though, isn’t good for your machine’s speed. When you’ve got several years’ worth of cache and browsing history stored, your browser spends more time digging for data to load up every time you open a website.
Uncheck Unnecessary Geo-Filters
The only 'must-have' filters are English (basically just never turn it off) and any language-specific filters if you surf the respective web segment (German filter for .de segment for example). Other filters are optional. Usually you don't need more than 5-6 filters, and this amount certainly won't slow down your internet. Here are you can learn more about Geo-filters.
Check That Your CPU Isn’t Overloaded
When there are a lot of apps running at the same time, you may notice some slowness. In this case, it is recommended to restart the computer.
